National road safety awareness campaign

“Safety for all in Benin”

YÉLIAN Association is implementing the national road safety awareness campaign entitled “Safety for all in Benin”, scheduled from 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027 across the entire national territory.

This campaign aims to help reduce road accidents by raising awareness among road users, promoting respect for traffic rules and encouraging responsible behaviour that protects human lives.

The campaign will be gradually rolled out across the twelve departments of Benin, at the rate of one department per month: Alibori in June 2026, Atacora in July 2026, Borgou in August 2026, Donga in September 2026, Plateau in October 2026, Collines in November 2026, Zou in December 2026, Couffo in January 2027, Mono in February 2027, Atlantique in March 2027, Ouémé in April 2027 and Littoral in May 2027.

In each department, several activities will be organised for two-, three- and four-wheel taxi drivers, transport operators, young people and the general public.

Road safety • Civic responsibility • Protection of human lives Objective: to strengthen a road safety culture among communities and make a lasting contribution to reducing accidents on Benin’s roads.
  • Awareness meetings for motorcycle taxi, tricycle and car taxi drivers;
  • Information sessions on road safety rules;
  • Meetings with unions and professional associations in the transport sector;
  • Awareness caravans in major cities;
  • Community outreach campaigns in markets, bus stations and public places;
  • Radio and television programmes, distribution of educational materials and public debates.

Pilot medical follow-up project for 20 LGBTQI+ persons in Cotonou

Launch date: 1 September 2025 Duration: 18 months Expected closing date: 28 February 2027 Total cost: 4,250,000 CFA francs

Yélian Association is implementing a pilot medical follow-up project for 20 persons from the LGBTQI+ community in Cotonou.

Fully funded from the Association’s own resources, this project aims to improve access to regular, confidential health support that respects beneficiaries’ dignity.

The mechanism consists of identifying, supporting and referring beneficiaries to health professionals and partner facilities that are sensitive to the realities of the LGBTQI+ community.

Inclusive health • Medical follow-up • Confidentiality Objective: to improve access to regular, inclusive and secure medical follow-up for LGBTQI+ persons in Cotonou.

  • Direct beneficiaries: 20 persons from the LGBTQI+ community

  • Approach: listening, guidance, referral, medical follow-up and community support

Project to build a solar-powered borehole system in Moniga

Location: Moniga village, Atacora department Start date: 15 May 2026 Duration: 6 months Tank capacity: 10,000 litres

Yélian Association is leading a new project to build a borehole system powered by solar energy in the village of Moniga, located in the Atacora department in northern Benin.

This project aims to sustainably improve access to drinking water for local communities through a modern, reliable infrastructure adapted to community needs.

The planned system includes a borehole equipped with a solar pumping system, a 10,000-litre water tank, a technical room for essential equipment and four water points to make distribution more organised and accessible to residents.

The use of solar energy is a strategic choice. It will ensure the pumping system operates in an ecological, economical and continuous manner, while reducing operating costs and constraints linked to access to conventional electricity.

Project to Promote Family Farming in the Plateau Department

Period: from 1 January to 31 December 2026 Area: Plateau Department Beneficiaries: 120 farming families Lead organisation: Yélian Association

YÉLIAN Association is implementing this project to strengthen food security, improve rural household income and promote sustainable agricultural practices.

The project supports family farms to improve their productivity, profitability and resilience to economic and climate challenges.
