Yélian Association is a social, community-based and humanitarian organization created in 2011 in a spirit of mutual support, solidarity and collective action for vulnerable populations, communities and people exposed to exclusion, including LGBTQI+ people. It obtained official recognition in 2017 under reference 2017/1959/DEP-LIT/SG/SAG-ASSOC dated June 1, 2017.
Yélian is a mutual support and solidarity association that brings together women and men committed to a shared vision: supporting vulnerable people, strengthening social cohesion and providing concrete responses to the priority needs of communities.
The Association works in several complementary areas, including social assistance, community health, education, access to drinking water, empowerment, social inclusion, protection of human rights, support for LGBTQI+ people, environmental protection and sustainable local development.
Its identity is based on a community approach founded on listening, proximity, confidentiality, respect for human dignity, non-discrimination, consideration of the realities of LGBTQI+ people and the active participation of beneficiaries.
Faithful to its motto “Mutual Support & Solidarity”, Yélian Association is committed to supporting people with humanity, responsibility and professionalism. It places human dignity, active solidarity, social justice and sustainable impact at the heart of its interventions.
This commitment is reflected in concrete actions: support for vulnerable households, promotion of inclusive health, support for LGBTQI+ people, community assistance, awareness raising, social support, capacity building, mobilization of partners and development of structuring projects.
Yélian intends to continue its institutional development by consolidating its achievements, improving the quality of its interventions and building responsible partnerships in the service of a more supportive, more inclusive and more resilient society.
The Association pays particular attention to LGBTQI+ people, who are often faced with stigma, discrimination and barriers to accessing social and health services. Through its initiatives, Yélian promotes support based on confidentiality, listening, respect, non-discrimination and protection of fundamental rights.
