Workshop on the professional empowerment of LGBTQI+ persons in Benin

On 14 and 15 June 2025, Association Yélian organized a workshop dedicated to the professional empowerment of LGBTQI+ persons in Benin.

This meeting brought together representatives from the twelve departments of Benin, community actors, LGBTQI+ beneficiaries, resource persons and participants from various professional and social backgrounds.

The exchanges helped identify obstacles to access to training, employment, entrepreneurship and economic opportunities, while proposing appropriate support mechanisms for professional integration and economic autonomy.

Inauguration of a borehole in Kétou-kpé: Association Yélian strengthens sustainable access to drinking water

Activity carried out by Association Yélian for the benefit of local communities.

On 14 March 2024, Association Yélian inaugurated a manually operated borehole in Kétou-kpé village, located in the Municipality of Ifangni.

Equipped with a hand pump, this borehole provides residents with a more accessible, safer and more sustainable source of drinking water for household needs, hygiene, health and daily well-being.

This achievement contributes to improving local living conditions, reducing water supply difficulties and strengthening community health.

Food kit distribution in Bonou: support for 200 vulnerable households affected by floods

Solidarity and assistance action for vulnerable populations.

On 28 February 2024, Association Yélian organized a food kit distribution operation for 200 vulnerable households in Bonou, following floods that affected several families.

The distributed kits included rice, oil, pasta and other essential products intended to meet the immediate needs of beneficiaries.

This action reflects Association Yélian’s commitment to community solidarity, assistance to vulnerable people and emergency response.

Validation workshop for the study on the stigmatization of LGBTQI+ persons in Benin

Institutional governance and activity planning meeting.

As part of its actions to promote human rights, dignity, social inclusion and the fight against discrimination, Association Yélian organized a validation workshop for the study on the stigmatization of LGBTQI+ persons in Benin.

The workshop brought together members of the Association, community actors, resource persons and representatives engaged in protection, solidarity and social cohesion dynamics. The exchanges made it possible to review, enrich and validate the study results.

The work helped consolidate operational recommendations for advocacy, awareness raising, community support, rights protection and stigma reduction.
